“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

I would love to tell you that I am supermom and that every night before bed I read my children a story and we talk about the best parts of their day and I go through of list of “10 things I love about you”…. but let’s be honest. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I have heard my name more times than I can count and I have picked up more toys than I think we even own!  I am desperately ready for my children to go to bed so that I can enjoy a few minutes of peace and quiet before I have to go to bed and then start it all over again. So usually, our bedtime routine includes a list of instructions from me: “get your pull-ups and pj’s on, brush your teeth and get in the bed.” I do, however, make sure that each child gets a hug and kiss before I tell them I love them and turn out the light.

One night a couple of years ago, my oldest son had been misbehaving and he knew that I was frustrated with him. When it came time for me to tuck him in, he simply climbed into his bed and laid down. He told me that because of the way he had acted that day he didn’t deserve a hug and kiss from me. Talk about a knife to my mama heart!  I made him get down out of bed; I kneeled down and looked him straight in the eyes and said, “It doesn’t matter to me how you acted today. I am going to give you a hug and kiss because I love you and sometimes we get things that we don’t deserve. It’s called grace.”

I remember that night like it was yesterday. I am convinced that the Spirit came over me in that moment because that is one of the most vivid pictures of grace I have ever seen. When I walked out of his room after turning the light off the Spirit reminded me of my own words, “sometimes you get things you don’t deserve. It’s called grace.”

Grace. Amazing, reckless, forever grace. It’s a gift that I am completely unworthy of. It’s a love so deep that despite my rebellion against him, He gave His only Son as a sacrifice to pay a debt that I could never repay. It’s a love so deep that in my active, willful disobedience to Him, He still chooses to love me. So today, sweet friends, remember that the Father has knelt down to look you in the eyes and give you a heavenly hug and kiss.  You are loved beyond measure. Even on your worst days (you know, those days when you’re the most unlovable person in the room) He still loves you and His grace still covers you ❤

Have a great week!
Jennifer

Crafty Details
I started this page by stamping the music line from the Amazing Grace kit in Hickory Smoke distress oxide. I then stamped the star bursts with Fossilized Amber and the music notes with Broken China. I added the words “grace, grace, grace undeserved” using the stickers from the kit and then filled in a few spaces with the small heart and music note stickers. I added a strip of the washi to the bottom of the page and finished off with a tab from the coordinating Faith-filled digitals set.

If you want to join in this month as we talk about living in grace, you can grab the physical kit from the Creative Retreat shop or if you want the digital version, you can find that here.
